Earlier this month the folks at Adobe got Flash 10.1 working on the two latest and greatest Android Phones: the Motorola Droid and Nexus One. I’m assuming only paperwork, details, network testing and an OTA are keeping Droid and Nexus owners from enjoying flash on their mobile device – a convenience iPad/iPhone owners won’t have. I’ve reached out to Adobe for further information and will let you folks know if/when I hear back.

Hot on the heels of the release of Truphone's VoIP enabled Truphone for Android application earlier this month, Truphone, the next generation global mobile operator, today announces that it is the first company to provide Wi-Fi calling on the Nexus One device from Google.

Following collaboration with Google, Truphone is pleased to announce that from today, Truphone for Android is compatible with the Nexus One. In addition to compatibility with the Nexus One, the update (version 3.0.2), ensures compatibility with the T-Mobile Pulse, meaning that Truphone is now Wi-Fi compatible with a total of five Android devices.

Karl Good, Director of Applications for Truphone said, "Google has been very helpful in working with the Truphone team to allow us to provide our award-winning solution to the growing number of Nexus One owners. Once again it is a testament to Truphone that we are the first to be able to offer this technology to consumers."

Whether it’s due to patents in place or just a gentleman’s agreement, you can’t overlook the missing multi-touch on the Nexus One handset. Actually, the device itself does support multi-touch, but those features aren’t enabled in the native Google apps. There’s no pinching in the browser, for example, although a third-party client does offer it. It didn’t take too long for the famous cyanogen at XDA-Developers to add multi-touch back into the native Android browser though. Redmond Pie tipped us off on the seemingly simply steps, which of course require you to root the device and install some extra bits. Here’s a quick peek at how it works after the device update.

In this video, we cover the built-in applications of the Google Nexus One. We go over the basic applications like Contacts and Calendar, but also dive a bit into the 3D photo gallery, the voice recognition capabilities, and more.

As mentioned in the video, there seems to be no quick way to dial a contact using the number pad (as you can do in Windows Mobile), but there are some alternatives. For example, you can place shortcuts to people you dial often on one of the homescreens. Also, you can fill up your Favorites screen within the Contacts application. Finally, you can use the device's search button to call up a keyboard that allows you to quickly find someone in your list.

Speaking of mobile phones, the new Nexus One Android device is a great way to take Google Apps with you everywhere. Nexus One not only syncs with multiple Gmail accounts, but it also syncs your contacts, with Google Calendar and with Picasa Web Albums. Nexus One lets you instant message using Google Talk and access voicemail — including handy message transcriptions — with the Google Voice app.

Google Inc took the wraps off the first of its smartphones on Tuesday, a device with speech recognition that it hopes can take on Apple’’s iPhone over time and help shore up the company dominance in Internet advertising. Analysts say the phone — to be sold directly to consumers — is not expected to dramatically alter the carrier-hardware vendor relationship the industry relies on, nor is it likely to yield a revenue windfall in the short term, though executives said it could be profitable.
